LET'S STOP LITTER IN GAUTIER
hard to get an organized clean-up.
I have continued to pick up litter in Gautier
once a month and have picked up about 10
bags this year, and I know several of you have
been out picking up litter on a regular basis.
We did help with several clean-ups on the
water,including Mary Walker Bayou in April
and Miss. Power's Renew our Rivers.
A new project I am involved with is the creation
of a new nonprofit corporation, Coastal Rivers.
Coastal Rivers will not only clean litter from
our waterways, we will also try to prevent land
based litter , as over 50% of marine litter
originates from land based activities. In our
first two clean-ups we removed over 700 lbs of
litter.

MARTIN BLUFF ROAD
After the City left a mess on Frontage road by
mowing the litter ,Kathy and I picked up 5 bags
of litter. We only covered 1/4 mile , but it did
help a little. We will try a better pick up in the
next couple of weeks.

we had our first organized pick up day of 2007
January 20th.
The two areas we cleaned were Dolphin Road south
of 90 and Martin Bluff Road near Martin Bluff
Elementary.
A total of 14 volunteers picked up 37 bags of trash
and a lot of other stuff including the front grill from a
Chevy truck.
In addition to a big thanks to all that helped today, I
want to give a special thanks to my wife Kathy and
Ginger Lay for spearheading the Dolphin Road area.

Feb.10 pick up a success. So far in 2007 we
have picked up about 217 bags of trash.
My hope is our efforts will send a message
that litter will not be tolerated in Gautier.
I will post a date and location for the March
clean up soon and the April cleanup is the
City- Wide one to be held the Saturday before
Easter.

THAN 180 BAGS OF TRASH
litter. I want to thank the 15 volunteers that
gave up part of their Sat. Morning. A
special thanks to Pat McClure and his crew
for bags, picking up and hauling off the
trash. Also 4 Red River employees helped
with the clean-up.
Next month is the Citywide Clean-up April
7th.
As soon as I get some of the pictures taken
Sat. I will get them posted here.
